My boyfriend of 2 months and I were extremely close friends before we started liking eachother. After a fight once he said "I want to be close to you forever so I'm trying not to let things get too serious so when we eventually have to break up it won't be something incredibly depressing". This bugged me. I don't like that he is holding back. Recently we talked a little about it again and he said "Remember when I said I wanted to be friends forever? I'm sorry I think I tried to take things a littletoo slow, I just feel like you expect so much attention from me". The thing is he has never EVER asked me to hang out alone. It's always with friends. I thought things would be better after the second talk but they are still pretty slow. I still have to make an extra effort to get his attention. I really like him and I think he still likes me. It's just so confusing...help?

Sounds like a bad case of best friend syndrome! The worst part about dating your best friend is that they aren't gonna want to ruin the friendship they had before. Usually these end easily with both parties saying "well I'm glad that wasn't serious, we are much better as friends". Your boyfriend is still testing the waters, probably "knows" you two will break up, cause that's what usually happens. It's a lot easier to say your friends will last forever, than a relationship. However, not all is lost, it'll just take time if you want it to work, he still is tryin to get used to the idea that you two are dating not just best friends.

Okay I used to be the same way and I would always need my friends to come with me on my dates and then he almost dumped me and kept geting mad so if he needs his friends then he is too scared to be alone with someone so you should find someone knew. Or talk to him about it and ask him if he wants to go some where with just you and him.
