I am absolutely in love with this girl who I have known for several years, and we are good friends. She just broke up with her boyfriend of two years, and I was going to ask her out but decided to wait a bit because I didn't want to be the rebound guy. She says she hates her Ex and that she saw him make out with someone he only knew a few days. But then she is all of a sudden going out with someone and making out with him and only known him a few weeks.

I thought he was just rebound, but she is obsessed with this guy, and willing to be in a long-distance relationship with him. She claims that he is not just rebound, whether or not he started that way, and whenever I'm with her she looks at her phone, awaiting a text message from her new boyfriend.

I think she may have had or even has feelings for me, but I've never asked anyone out before and I think she would rather go out with this guy than wait for me to ask (though if she was maybe one week more patient I would have). But my love for her is tearing me apart, and even if she says no, I'm in love with this other guy, even if she says she never loved me, at least I'll know.

She is going away to camp for four weeks--should I at least let her know that I wanted to ask her out? I think that we would still be friends even if she is annoyed with me at the time, but I'm just worried that if and when she does break up again and I ask her, she won't take me seriously.

Also; I'm Jewish, she's Jewish, he's not Jewish. Her parents like me. They don't like him.

Next time don't wait. There's are a fair amount of girls who won't let themselves be single for very long. The whole rebound distinction is meaningless with them.

That said, I wouldn't make your move when she seems to be crazy about another guy. I'd wait until that looks like it's waning with him, and then let her know.

Question Asker Wow thanks for answering so fast. I am taking her to a concert in two days and thought it might be a good time to ask, but I guess you're right, I should wait till things die down. I only told one friend how I feel about this girl so far, and she said I made it kind of obvious, and also that this "rebound" will not last and I have all of senior year.

i think you're both right, but the waiting is killing me :( - 5 months ago
