I know they can work if you believe they can, and you have to be really honest. Have any of you made them work? If so what did you do to keep the relationship alive? Those who haven't made them work, what happened so that it went wrong?

I thought that it could work, but it didn't. I graduated from college and moved back to our hometown. She remained, made a new group of friends, and fell out of love with me.

I have a friend in a similar situation. She and this boy have been friends for almost three years. they met in a church group. he lives about three hours away from her and the kept in touch without seeing each other for three years. Finally I went down to the beach with her one weekend and it turned out that boy was down at the same becah for his senior week. They started having REALLY strong feelings about eachother. However, this boy is going to college in CALI and my friend and I are still stuck in high school. She has been stressing on what to do. I told her as long as she kept in touch like she did before nothing should change , however you can't get mad if he eventually ends up meeting someone else. . he is a million miles away and you guys aren't "officially together" if he lives so far away/. If he really thinks your the one , he will not meet anyone else, and take advantage of as many opportunities as possible to come see you. IF he does this , this should show you how much he wants it to work out. IF he doesn't display this, he's not worth it.

i have only had long distance relationships so far. I move around a lot and as soon as I get a boyfriend, I move 1000 miles away! I guess it depends on how much you both are committed to the relationship. In order for it to work you both have to want it that badly. In my experience, I've never had a problem with trust or communication. What usually happens to me is that I get my heart broken when I find out he has been seeing someone else, or the fire on his side dies down. Like I believe it is working, but he doesn't. So you have to make sure your guy is equally committed as you are. If not, you are in for a terrible heart break.

They can work. It's not easy but they can work. My fiance and I were miles apart. The way we kept it alive when we were apart was through emails and long long conversations on the phone. The only thing is make sure you have a good plan or you'll end up running a $300 phone bill like I did. Oops. Anyhow, we would get creative with it as far as watching the same movies and being on the phone. I know this sounds cheesy but it made us feel like we were closer. We would use webcams, send each other pics, have phone sex. Now he's out here face to face and I love coming home to him every day. The weekends we love because it's "our time". Friday nights are date nights.
On the downside. It can be really hard sometimes. Not having them to hold or kiss can really frustrate some people. If there isn't honesty and communication.and most of all commitment to the relationship then it won't work. Long distance relationships don't work if you aren't going to eventually see that person. By this I mean if you are "dating" but live far away from each other and have no plans on actually seeing one another.
If this is a guy you met in a chat room or any other Internet website please be careful. There are a lot of predators out there. If this is a guy that is moving away, well good luck. It's not easy but it is doable. :)

Question Asker I'm hopefully meeting this guy next month. It's my dads friends son. My friend and I were talking about long distance relationships last night. If we do hook up I want to have some advise to make it work. - 3 months ago
Answerer Like I said. Keep the fire alive with staying in contact. Send emails, text messages, phone calls...it can all work. I wish you the best. :) - 3 months ago

Advice: How To Make Public Displays Of Affection
Has society given us enough info. about Birth Control and Safe Sex?
melissarose8585 asked 4 days ago

Society doesn't give enough information.

People don't listen to information given, or don't care.

There is another reason.

I don't know.
