Okay so we lived together for a year and we were working together at a restaurant which I got really sick of and decided that I needed a new job. An opportunity came up for me and I decided that I was interested and ran it past her which at first she was completely supportive of. She said that this will be really good for me. She stayed in her apartment that we both lived together in and after a while she just stopped calling and stopped answering my calls. But now I am in a different state and she doesn't answer my calls and I resorted to talking to her friends about it who says that they don't talk about it because it hurts her. Eventually they got her to call me and she says that she is just really caught up in her own life and doesn't want to worry about a boyfriend. She says she wants to be with me but she doesn't want me to have to wait for her and I basically said that I don't mind waiting and that I'll be there for her if she needs anything. I said we could just be friends if that's what she wanted right now and she seemed to be really cool about it but then I haven't heard from her since. her grandma just died on top of the rest of her problems and I just don't know what to do because I am not happy in the state I'm in and I can't move back in with her right now and I just don't know if she is trying to break up with me without hurting me or if she is telling the truth in that she is just too busy to worry about a boyfriend. in my eyes I would be supportive of her problems and be there for her so I don't know why she doesn't want me in her life right now. What do I do?
Well it's really hard to tell what's on your ex-girlfriend's mind. Maybe you should ask her if she's being honest with you. Tell her that you'd rather know how she REALLY feels. And tell her not to worry if she's gonna hurt you with the answer or not. I think that's the only way to know.
If, even so, she refuses telling you and keeps not calling you or answering your calls, then the only thing to do is move on. That would clearly mean she wants distance from you. And there's not much you could do about that.
