Christmas present for super new boyfriend?

my boyfriend and I will have been going out for almost 2 months when we exchange our Christmas presents, and I have NO clue what to get him because of how little time we've been going out.
it's more about how much should I spend so that he doesn't feel uncomfortable if I get him something nice, or not spend enough and then he gets me something nicer than what I got him. talking about a price limit is not an option for us.
the other problem is that were long distance, so I don't see him on a daily basis to know what he actually likes (I do know he doesn't like video games or regular "guy" sports like football)

he's already thinking about what to get me for christmas, because at first he asked me what kind of jewelry I like, but then he (and then his sister to "help him out") asked what my favorite color is, so then I'm guessing when he asked about the jewelry it was just random maybe?

help pleaseeee!

Because you don't yet know each other well enough to buy each other something personal, I would suggest getting him a gift certificate for a place that sells "guy things" such as Best Buy.

  Your logic is sound, except for the fact that the main (frankly, only) point of her Christmas gift is to show him that she cares about him. So she should take a stab at something he'd like, because its the evidence of her knowing him and caring about him that is what matters.
  
  I'd hazard a guess that a girl buying you a best buy gift card would, in fact, do that - it would show that she understood your pragmatism and enjoyment of stuff from best buy ;)

  Well if she doesn't know him well enough to be able to "figure out" what he wants, and she's obviously not willing to straight up ask him (which is why she posted this on here) I don't see any other way.

  I'm old school, but I would NOT buy your boyfriend a gift certificate. Its basically cash. Most guys accept that dating is a net-cash-loser, that's not what he's looking for from her.

i will have been dating my boyfriend for 4 months and a few days at Christmas time, so I'm in the same boat. I have him figured out pretty well and I managed to get him an amazing birthday present (today's his birthday!) and now I have to figure out what to get him for christmas. he asked me what I wanted yesterday and I told him I would love anything he got me, so he said 'i know exactly what I'm going to get youuuu!', but when I asked him what he wanted, all he told me was 'you! ;)'
obviously my boyfriend and I joke around a lot, but I'd say figure out what he likes or wants. if he likes music, get him an itunes gift card, those are always great. I know someone said don't get him a gift card, but if you know he'd like something from a certain store, give him the "money" to go and buy something that he'll like for sure rather than risking it. or, you could ask him to come with you and pick something out then you buy it.
