i think it's usually called an emotional love affair. you have feelings that you shouldn't but you don't act on them physically. is that what you mean?

Question Asker That's pretty much what I mean, except for the shouldn't part. I mean an emotional love affair that is never physical for any reason. Not just because it would be cheating. - More than a year ago
Answerer I've heard young "friends" promise to marry later in life if they never found anybody else. they have a deep, loving connection but not the fire or maybe not equal amount of affection for each other. maybe the timing is off or maybe they're confused. they didn't marry each other, btw. - More than a year ago

Hmm... I think when you platonically love someone, it gets confusing, cos you would kiss them, but maybe not have sex with them? Sometimes

I think when I was younger I had it twice. We used to have a weird connection, being able to talk without opening our mouths, "eye-talking" as someone else put it. But then she took drugs woopee and her personality reversed! With later friends there has been that sort of connection, but with increasing years they are less platonic... everyone is a bit relaxed on sexuality and yes, I have kissed some of the female friends I platonically love. Would I have sex with them? No, don't think so.

I was really close to two guy friends for a time and could say I loved them. One of them has since got confused though and keeps trying to get with me when he is drunk. It is not love of any kind fuelling that I am afraid!

There's not much difference between a platonic friendship and a close one. Actually I'd consider them both to be just friendships, and far from a "love affair." I hear this word a lot mostly when two guys who aren't gay tell each other that they love each other. Its not a relationship type thing, just more like a close friendship.

Question Asker So what do you call a close friendship+love but no sex? - More than a year ago
Answerer I have no idea. Actually that's a question I've had for the past 5 years. Love as in being IN love with the person? Honestly I'd say that its just love, no other fancy words. - More than a year ago
Question Asker I don't know. where does "love" end and "in love start"? with sex out of the picture. - More than a year ago
Answerer I don't think sex makes a relationship turn into love or IN love at all. Two people can be in love without being physical. Love is caring for someone, but IN love with someone is different. I can't explain it, you just know when you're in love with someone because your whole world changes. - More than a year ago
rockmom I love that last line, well said. - More than a year ago
