ah so basically this guy and I were talking and liked each other and hanging out (not having sex) but I pushed him away when I started school because I liked him a lot and I thought he would become distant anyway.

now he wants to know why I did that especially since we got closer again.

how do I say "i really liked you but I distanced myself because I thought you wouldn't want to see or talk to me that much more anyway" without sounding dumb or whatever? does that make me sound crazy?
