Why are guys standards so high?

For girls, it's simple: The guy has to be nice, funny, fun to be around, and have a wonderful personality. It wouldn't hurt if he were good looking either. But for guys, standards for "their girl" are set very high. Practically, she has to be perfect! Why is that?

This is not the case. I know some guys with some very dodgy girls that have nothing to offer; sexually OR mentally.

I know my standards are bloody high, but this is something I can't help, or I wish I could. It has affected me so much recently.

Anyways, guys standards in girls range just as much as girls standards in guys. But it's good to see the opinionated answers by girls.
