What are people's opinions of long distance relationships? From your experiences can anybody give me the good the bad and the ugly? Plus, any tips for keeping it alive even when you are so far apart?
Long distance relationships are very challenging. In order to be satisfying and worthwhile, you must have a plan to meet sometime. Even if its only once a year! The thing you really have to ask yourself is this; is he worth waiting for? I am in a very , very long distance relationship right now; my girlfriend is from finland. I'm staying with her even though we are so far apart because she is definitely worth it! I love her more than I have ever loved anyone on earth! The key to surviving being apart is to keep the communication going. We email, im, or call each other every day. Even though I don't really see her, its kind of like she is still here when we talk everyday. Anyway, who ever said love is easy? I hope this helps you some!
The saying goes "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." But usually it's more like, "Absence makes the heart wander."
Long distance relationships are tough since the only thing you can do really is call, email, or write letters. You could try playing some online games to stay socially active. Yahoo card games are pretty fun and I play those on occasion. If you are a computer games person, they have those games like World of Warcraft and Everquest.
The thing to keep in mind, however, is that the end-goal of any long distance relationship should be to finally meet up again. If you don't think it's even remotely possible that you'll meet up in 1-2 years, you should probably mutually end the relationship.
