Yea but I don't like hearing it from just anybody the only person I like hearing it from is my ex since were still friends I call her pooh bear and she calls me babe, sunshine, and hun but I don't say it to any1 except her and I would never use that pet name on any1 else again its special to me and that will always be her :)
Only when it is true and boosts my character. I hate meaningless words, and personally I despise this word: "hubby" - where did that come from? What does that mean? I just started hearing that the last year or two, or have I been in outer space this whole time - and that goes along with calling guys "cute" - guy's aren't "cute" and don't want to be called that. The only ones who are, are babies or immature brats and they don't even like it. But I get it.
pet names are ok as long as they are appropriate for where ever we are at the time and they don't stop using my real name all together-if all they ever call you is babe you start to wonder if they even remember your name. plus no food name, muffin, puddin, makes you wonder if they're just thinking about food
Hahaha well one of my guys used to call me Maple Syrup. Then we started to make a bit of a joke and he would go nutz! He would be like come here my little maple syrup whipped cream cherry sprinkle french toast LOL it was pretty funny
My guy calls me Squirrel. He says that I eat like a squirrel, (looking up, then down, eat some more, look up again) sort of when a squirrel is eating a nut. I call him my Crazy Nut. Whats weird is lately for the past 4 months, we see pictures of squirrels, t-shirts of squirrels, and last week my guy got me a chew toy for dogs. Guess what it was. Yep a fuzzy Squirrel.
I don't mind babe, honey, sweetheart, baby. But food is a no. 1) it's just weird and 2) it makes me think of food making me get hungry. ^^ But that's just me.
What!? No puddin' or tater? Obviously I hear those a lot- being from the southeast. I guess we southerners have a thing for food nick names. Haha :) - 6 months ago

Lol. No no puddin' or tater. Crap I'm hungry now. Lol. If you like it that's cool. But I don't really like the idea of being called food. It'll end up me being the bad guy cause I'll probably laugh. ^^ - 6 months ago
Question Asker
I'm not totally crazy about the food thing either, but I'm used to hearing it. I think it has more to do with the region? I hear it more from grandma's, aunts, white haired ladies from church, etc. A la Paula Deen style (from Food Network). - 6 months ago
I think why we are called "pudding, honey, tater" etc. Is to refer to that we bring delight or happiness to that person when we are around them, so they express that "delight" or affection by a sweet taste. - 5 months ago
Girl, my ex use to call me Mookie all the time. Loved it until I found out he calls the girl he cheated with the same thing. Makes me wonder if all his exes had that name. Kinda creeps me out now.
Yeah, creeps me out too, given that there was a baseball player called Mookie Wilson. - 5 months ago

Well I'm not dating this guy but he's my best friend and I just love him to death! Over a few years we somehow just started calling each other pookie and boo. I love it :)
Just out of curiosity... if you have fallen into a friendship through heavy flirtation in the beginning but just became friends instead, is it normal...
