I am a tattoo virgin. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for while now but I am not sure what type of tattoo to get. I have narrowed down my choices to the following links:
My boyfriend has three tattoos, and I love all of his. His are all very personal to him, he's put deep thought into them. He's 30 now and his only regret about getting them is he can't be "completely naked" ever, because even when he is naked the ink is obviously still there. My best friend on the other hand got a bunch of tattoos for the sake of getting them, and he likes them all as artwork, but he tells me constantly now that he wishes he didn't get them put on his body.
I would also recommend coming up with an ORIGINAL idea. Why would you want to have someone elses tattoo on your body?
I don't like the idea of your own name on your arm. If I saw a guy with his name on his arm I'd assume he were really self centered. Naked lady, nah, I'm not liking that idea at all.
I would put some real thought into it and not just get something for the sake of getting it.
I guess the last link was the best but I'm beggin you. Please be original. Get something that means something. I think you should take some time to think about it. Don't copy something someone else has. Try to go in with a general idea, talk to the artist and he will develop it into something great.
Hmmm. I'm noticing something funny. Everyone who says be original and get something that means something has a thumbs down marking. That's weird. - 6 months ago
I totally agree with LessthanLisa. I am 38 and recently got my first tattoo. I see a lot of people getting tattoo's that are just artwork, so I see duplicated artwork that, to me, is quite boring. It's like having a painting in your house that everyone else has in their house. Tattooing is a way to identify yourself, draw interest, and to set yourself apart in someways. I am of Japanese ancestery and I looked up my family crest and my family name in Kanji. I put the two together in two different colors, red and black. I designed my own artwork and it is completely different from anyone else. I draw a lot of attention when I go to the beach or go shirtless. My girlfriend who was opposed to tattoo's even said that she really likes my tattoo a lot. So, don't rush it and figure out a deeper meaning of the tattoo itself.
I think it's harder to dislike something if you know it has a personal meaning. I don't care for tattoos, infact for awhile I didn't like my SO's tattoos...but once I found out the meaning behind his tattoos, I adored them and him even more. - 6 months ago
Why don't you get a tattoo of something symbolic, something that is special to you. Something that you won't regret 30 years from now. I'm personally thinking about getting a coat of arms of my forefathers tattooed on arms, chest, or back.
