Hey I'm trying to get into rock kinda so what are good bands? I'm sick of rap and it's lame so if any of you know any good bands or songs tell me. I hate metal so kinda calm songs and not really bad lyrics.

thanks.

I don't know if any of these are really what style your looking for, but my fav's are.
Dave Matthews Band! (the best!) (got the calm songs and the absolute best lyrics)
Maroon 5, Coldplay, The Fray, Jurassic 5 (kinda like rap/reggae).If you like those, I can give you more like them :)

Usually girls your age will tend to gravitate to more indie rock than mainstream. Girls just seem to relate better to the musical style and lyrics. With that said there's nothing wrong if you want to just jump in feet first. There are enough bands here to keep you going for a while, but I'd recommend:

The Killers
The Strokes
My Chemical Romance
Coheed & Cambria (one of my favorites)
Modest Mouse
The New Pornographers
Coldplay
Alexisonfire
City and Colour

Then there is more mainsteam rock like:

Seether
The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Chevelle
Breaking Benjamin
Lostprophets
Nirvana

Then there's hard rock, experimental, and hardcore like:

Tool
Rage Against the Machine
Disturbed
Sevendust
30 Seconds to Mars
A Perfect Circle
Metallica
At The Drive-In
The Mars Volta
Sparta
All That Remains
As I Lay Dying

Then there's metal:

Killswitch Engage
In Flames
Soilwork
Meshuggah
Lamb of God

If you do end up liking hard rock or hardcore, you should definitely give Killswtich Engage a listen as it's really only boarderline metal.

I absolutely love you for the opinion you have on this music! lol j/k but its the same as mine! haha

Well I don't know what you would really like but I could suggest older bands like Aerosmith, ACDC, Metallica, Guns N Roses, etc.

More modern rock I don't know too many good bands. I just like a lot of certain songs from whoever. I really like System of a Down tho. They do every kind of rock you can think of and they have some songs that are just for the hell of it ad they were bored or something lol

You said you like calm songs, so I’m kinda sticking to that (although there are lots of other great bands out there):

The Academy is…
Army of Me
Augustana
Ben’s Brother
Ben Folds Five
The Bravery
The Calling
Everybody Else
Hellogoodbye
Jack’s Mannequin
The Last Goodnight
Lifehouse
The National
Nickelback
Our Lady Peace
The Pretenders
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Snow Patrol
Yellowcard
Zox (they’re a local band, but I saw them live with Jack’s Mannequin--good show)

By the way, if you go to pandora.com you can type in a band or song that you like and it finds similar artists/songs.
