I am just wondering about black fingernail polish. My favorite cat just got put to sleep because he had leukemia. And I made a memorial and went all out for him. And I want to paint my nails black because 1)he was a black cat and 2) black is a mourning color. I know black used to be mainly associated with emo/goth types. But I am far from that. I am a nerd/prepish person. Would it give people the wrong idea if I painted my nails black?
why would you care what people thought if you put black nail polish on? they're just steeple. two things that you should know is that black is not a mourning color, it resembles protection and nailpolish will make your nails frail and nasty as you grow older.i am very sorry to hear about your cat, do whatever you think is necessary to keep happy thoughts about your cat
No you wont, I'm up there with all the preppy people and I wear black nail polish. We wear it more than the gothic kids in my school. Nothings wrong with it at all.
I don't think painting your nails black would give people the wrong idea. If you want to wear a black nail polish then go for it. Emos/goths aren't the only people that wear black polish - lots of my friends do and somtimes I myself wear the color - and I am no way a goth/emo.
Lauren Conrad and Audrina wear black nail polish. I wore it for a few weeks and got some compliments and I am not emo/goth either. I think you can get away with it now because it's mainstream.
Why worry about others when you're going through so much already! my deepest sympathies! loosing a pet is like loosing a best friend and if the black nail polish helps to deal with that, then by all means, indulge yourself! best of luck and be brave!
Don't everrrrr worry about what other people think when it comes to style.! You are your own person and no one has a right to have an opinion on what you wear, think, say, do, etc. Now if painting your nails black makes you happy, go for it. If someone has a positive opinion about it, thank them, if anyone has anything negative to say (EG- since you think black nail polish is "emo/goth" type, they might call you poser, or fake) just ignore them. They don't even deserve an explanation about it because of their ignorance. But then again its just nail polish, so no big deal :) Go all out, mourn in whatever way you feel comfortable.
first I would like to pay my respects for your cat. I've been through this many times and I understand how painful it is. I think you should go ahead and wear the black nailpolish because it expresses your greif and pain. I also think that even if you wore black clothes and nailpolish you will still look preppy, because that's who you really are.
I don't think it'll give off much of an impression either way. And if people do happen to ask about it, just tell them your reason and I'm sure they'll see it differently :]
And plus, lately I've been seeing a lot of the preppier/popular girls wearing black polish, so it's gotten pretty mainstream I guess. It's not too big of a deal anymore :] p.s. I'm really sorry about your cat! I've lost pets before that I really loved and I had them forever, and it really broke my heart.
I cried more about my cat then I did when my papa died :/. It's awful losing pets, but you have more good memories with them than bad ones. Thanks for your answer :) - 5 months ago
Sorry about your cat, I know how it feels. You could go with a black design, v tip is cute, and on your middle finger you could put the letter of your cats first name in the middle of the v. Or maybe go all out and spell its name throughout your nails. You could also outline the tip with another collar, maybe purple or dark blue. Still mournful collars.
