Ok, so I went Anonymous. I've been told that I'm fat, but no, I just have that lovely flab of skin - the muffin top. Sure I could diet, stay off the sweets, and exercise. Any advice to get rid of it the fastest.

appreciate it!

Body fat is lost all over the body at the same time. You cannot spot reduce. The only way to target a specific area is with lipo or cosmetic surgery. If you focus on only toning your abs, you'll actually find you get bigger around the midsection after a while because the muscles grow but the fat doesn't go away.

If you want to lose weight, the most important thing to do is eat right and exercise. That means cardio and resistance training. Period. Anything else is half-baked and isn't a proper weight-loss regimen.

I have some advice if you'll take it from a guy in this area.

1)Drink water - give up all other drinks. The calories from soda, juice, energy drinks, vitamin water, etc will make you gain weight easily

2)Don't eat before bed.try to eat dinner 2-3 hours before going to sleep and try not to snack during that time.

3)crunches help a little, but they are mostly about muscle gain for your abs, not about weight loss- in other words, you'll have more muscle but also have the same fat

4)aerobic exercise is the best - if you have a friend who goes jogging/running, or take a class, or if you are involved in a sport, or if worst comes to worst, dance to music in your house - any activity is good.

It should take a few months - but these should put you on your way.I wouldn't worry too much about dieting until you get these things down - in fact, these things by themselves should reduce your fat fairly quickly, just stick with them consistently.

Question Asker Thanks! - A month ago
soxfan94 I agree completely, but I would also add that crunches, while developing muscles in the ab area, also help reduce fat, since the muscles will help burn some of the fat off if you make sure to stick to the other rules. - A month ago
Question Asker Crunches, I've been doing, but geez, they are so painful.. :) - A month ago
Answerer Yea not sure about this...I was reading something the other day that said the effect of extra muscle in the area on fat loss is minimal. Sorry I don't have a source for it, but it seems to be one of the myths of weight loss, that doing muscle building exercises help...aerobic exercise seems to be by far the best way. I guess, you could do both just to be safe :)

Running! (5 times a week for as long as you can)
replace sweets with something that is a lot like a sweet but doesn't have all the cals like yogurt
heres a good exercise to try also.
sit down with your legs out in a straddle. Take two 8lb weights and put your arms in the position like you would doing a crunch (hands with weights behind your head, elbows out to the sides). Then bend to the right and go back to the center. then bend left and go back tot he center. Do a lot of reps. You won't feel it when your doing it but it works the love handle area a lot and you'll feel it the next day.

soxfan94 There is some disagreement among fitness "experts" about running and how best to employ it. Recent studies suggest that running for as long as you can at a medium steady pace may not be as efficient as if you run at 100% for a period, followed by complete rest or walking, and then repeated that until you're finished. If I recall, the study showed that people who did high exertion bursts followed by rest, and repeating, lost 33% more body fat than those who ran long distances as steady speed. - A month ago
gag10 I think the key is that some(in whatever form) is better than nothing - starting out it's tough to stick with it. - A month ago

Go to the gym, stay active, take up yoga, go for a walk (its summer now anyways, it should motivate you), go for a bike or swim ( one of the best cardio activity along with running). Do some muscle toning with our typical push-up exercise, and crunches. Drink plenty of water. Don't eat between 6pm - 9pm. Stretch whenever you can (stretching helps increase your metabolism and burn calories). Make up your own diet plan - doesn't mean you starve yourself, just means you cut down and have moderation in your life style.

There is no easiest way out or the fastest. The hardest part of all is to be patient and determined. If you master that, the rest becomes really easy. Its a mind over matter scenario, unless you can be honest with yourself, no one else can really help you out other than share their half of tips and techniques.

Not my best answer but I hope it would motivate you at least a little bit. Goodluck.

There is never a fast way or we would all be skinny! It starts by you being honest with yourself.
YOU have to make the change. No one can do this for you. If you are serious, check with your
doctor about making changes. This means incorporated a life change. YOU need to start with
what you eat, how much you eat, etc. Then YOU need to find an exercise program that you like.
Sound sorta easy, but not. This is a major change for YOU. Gather your support group together-that would be those you trust and would support. They have to be firm for you. YOU
can do this. Keep the faith. Good Luck!

YummyStrawberry That's the least healthy diet I've ever heard of...be careful! - A month ago
Question Asker I've been trying that too, but I just love to eat. And sorry, but I'm not fond of bananas. My folks made me eat a banana a day in my teens, and after years of that, I stay away from it. Yeah, some health nut I turned out to be! :) - A month ago
soxfan94 You don't have to stop eating...just try to eat smaller portions, and spread them out more often. Try having 6-8 meals a day, but make them smaller and healthier. Instead of a huge lunch, just have a sandwich and then have some fruits or vegetables a couple hours later in the mid afternoon. This will help keep your metabolism going. - A month ago

oblique crunches are a great way. Just opposite elbow to opposite knee and switching. do them while you're watching T.V. or just lounging around. ;)
