I live up north but I love southern accents on girls. There's something about that female southern drawl that kind of perks up my ears and warms my heart.
But southern accents on guys always seems to make guys seem a little "slow" and "dim". Maybe it's because the accent is kind of a slower-paced accent (as opposed to a faster-paced accent like an italian one), or maybe it's because of the way that male southerners are portrayed by the media. Not really sure why it seems better on girls than guys, but I was wondering if anyone else had a biased preference as well?
I've got a slight southern accent. Or maybe it's more then slight, I don't know. I'm from southern louisiana. But I don't really notice southern accents on people. However, I have noticed that a texas accent is much different then the people down here.
I love southern accents on me. Then again. I love east coast accents on men too. I guess I love most accents though there are a few that I don't. I guess a deep down fantasy for me would be to find a good southern boy because they know how to treat their women :)
I love accents of any kind. Southern, French, Italian, Swiss, anything. Except maybe Newfies accents. I just think it's so neat to listen to someone and the way they use the language.
Your right it does make them sound a little dumb and foolish. I personally don't care for southern accents, but if you have one, then you really can't help it. I'm happy I don't live down south, so I don't have an accent like them.
Hey now there's nothing wrong with southern accents, I'm from the south and I have one I have a Texas accent. And there's nothing sexier than a woman with a southern accent. - 6 months ago
No I actually think on a guy its sexy and friendly - on a girl I'm not really sure cause yea its a girl - my sister can sometimes speak in a Southern drawl and every time she talks to guys in it - its like all the guys are mesmerized or something - I mean they can't take their eyes off of her - but I think its probably cause we live up North so no one really hears that at all so we're amazed although I do like Reba!
Well I am from the south so I am used to the southern accent, I can't stand a northern accent though. I think a southern accent is more friendly sounding, but I am probably biased.
Thats because we sound intelligent. No offense:) - 9 months ago

You expect me to not take offense to that? We all have our opinions, but it is stupid to judge someone based on how they talk. Many famous intelligent people have come from the south. Northerners are rude and arrogant? No offense. - 9 months ago
Listen, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. All I was trying to say is that people from the south aren't as smart other people in the You. S. So you don't have to get all bitchy with me. Okay - 9 months ago
Wow you must be a genius or something to know EVERY SINGLE PERSON from the south and know that we are dumber than everyone else. congrats Einstein, you have proven that people from the south are stupid. - 6 months ago
R you f***ing kidding me kiki-baby. She had every right to get bitchy with you because what you did made you a bitch. As for the smart part I've spent my life both above and below the mason-dixon line, not like you know what that is even though you live in pennsylvania. Also wtf is You. S.? Is that the U.S.? My point is quit being an arrogant b**** and maybe people won't be bitchy towards you - 5 months ago
Well I'm from South Africa, and we got quite a bit of accents and a lot of slang here from more than 11 languages. There are accents that "fits" better with men and ones that "fits" better with women according to generalization, media and community expectations etc. But it generally boils down to personal taste, how you grew up, how much you were effected by community and the media, what experiences you had and with what/whom you relate to and with what/whom you don't.
But I find the southern accent (American, to be precise) pretty hot on girls for a few personal reasons.
I like the accents on girls. But I don't have an accent myself, so I'm wondering if I wouldn't like it on girls as much, if I had the same accent. For guys I think it makes them sound hokey or something.
The novelty of dating someone with an accent can get stale rather quickly. If that's the only reason you are dating them. Make sure there are other factors as well that attract you to them.
I have heard time and time again of someone saying they were sick of their ex's accent after a few months.
