How/Why do guys pine over the same girl for so long but then ask out another without trying for the one they wanted?

(Assuming the origanal was not only available but was also interested)

  • Sounds like the result of a probability matrix. As a guy, you have to talk to several women at the same time, or you'll never get to be with someone. The odds of someone being interested and "right," for both, is probably less than 1:300

So he probably thought the odds of you being interested in him were so low that it's not worth the time to put in towards you.

There's a lot of work to be done for men in dating. No point in talking to women who are out of your league.

  • If he doesn't feel like he's getting a feeling that she's Interested, he won't bother. He thinks the chance she'll say yes is so small it isn't worth the rejection he thinks will come.
