Does "Needy" & "Clingy" mean same thing?

If not what are the differences?

How would you describe a needy or clingy person? What do they do?

  • I would say needy is actually wanting a lot of attention and clingy would be actually trying to get it.

What Girls Said 2

  • I think they're pretty synonymous. A clingy person always needs to be with a certain person, does unnecessary things for that person's attention, becomes possessive, gets jealous easily, etc.

  • Needy is needing something. Clingy is actually sticking to it. I guess they can mean the same, but they have a different connotation to me.
