It describes a person who tends to turn inward mentally. Introverts sometimes avoid large groups of people, feeling more energized by time alone. The opposite of an introvert is an extrovert, who finds energy in interactions with others.

Sure, both my partner and I are introverted and we've been together for the past four years and we still enjoy being around each other. It's true that sometimes our evenings are really quiet and we can be doing our own separate thing next to each other rather than talking but we still bond and have a good time in each other's company. Extroverts just exhaust us both, I don't think that I could be in a relationship with one.0
