These are some of my favorites from the past 5 years. What kind of movies do you like? Looking back, what are some of your favorites of all time? It's like a personal goal for me to help you find modern movies you like, so tell me about you history with cinema :)
i hear you. it seems like most movies now are super heroes and heavy action now, or a comedy with the same group of people over and over again. it's a sad time trying to find good movies now, even the independent studios aren't releasing nearly as many good movies as they did in the 90's (the heyday of indie movies).
Good movies have been hard to find for quite some time, mainly because the studios are afraid to take risks. Movies are expensive to make; in 2007, the average movie cost $100 million to produce and market. That was AVERAGE. So the studios want to make movies that will bring in a lot of money, even if they're really lame.
This past year, I thought "Ex Machina" and "Kingsman" were good.
