Why do clothes look different in the mirrors at stores than at home?

Why when I'm trying on clothes at a store I feel bad and fat but at home they look fine?

  • Many stores use heavy downlighting and it can create a lot of unflattering shadows

  • the lighting in dressing rooms is TERRIBLE a lot of the time. which doesn't make sense to me because if I was selling clothing I'd make the lighting nice & dim and flattering lol!

  • Its the type of lighting. They change the colour perception and the shadows are different.
