Cambodian women (yes I'm a Cambodian woman) do it as a cultural thing. When a family member passes away someone in the family has to shave their head. When my grandma on my dads side passed away, he shaved his head. When my grandpa passed away, on my mums side my mum shaved her head
Why? What Cambodian culture was about: 1. In Life there is suffering 2. Suffering is caused by the want or craving for the impermanent effects of self serving desire. 3. The way to counteract and therefore rid yourself of suffering is to rid yourself of the cause of suffering 4. The way to rid yourself of suffering is by adhering to the eightfold Noble Path So imperamant was hair in this state. (Thought it would be interesting to share because it's in relation to the question)
But anyways. I wouldn't be bothered if other girls chose to do that. Sometimes they have to do that because they don't have a choice, while other women who want to do that choose to. No I wouldn't shave my head
My best friend does this every few years when she donates her hair to Locks of Love. It suits her. I really like it on her. Plus, then she has a fuzzy head and I love fuzzy heads. I get to pet it. It's great.
