Since about 6 months ago I have gone down a jeans size and get told I look trimmer but I weigh a couple kgs more. Why is this?

You've put on muscle which is denser and weighs more. That explains your increase in weight.
So, judge things by how they look, not by how much they weigh.

If you have gained muscle but lost fat this happens. Fat takes like 5x more volume than muscle so its an illusion.
Check your weighing machine
you may of grown a bit and or your bones are also at the end part of growing and becoming more dense. you may also be gaining muscle as muscle normally weighs more than fat.

Maybe because you've replaced the fat with muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat.
