I've never really been to the gym and I'm looking for tips to just loose weight and get generally healthier.

if you are just starting out, be careful with weights, you shouldn't do them every day. Your muscles need time to repair themselves, so only do them every second day. If you have never used gym equipment before, you should either take a class to learn how some of the machines work or ask someone at the front desk if there is a trainer there who could help you figure things out. You need to know how the machines work for safety reasons and also just because they can be extremely confusing to someone new to a gym.0
