Say your boyfriend proposes, but doesn't have the ring yet. Would it still be considered an actual proposal and that you're now engaged? Or do you HAVE to have the ring for it to be official?

  • This coming just as a male opinion. Yes I would say that is a real proposal. He is showing you his commitment to be with you, the ring is more of a symbol of commitment but for the time being it is fine. He may want to look into getting the ring soon if he hasn't already been browsing around.

  • The proposal is worth more than the ring, the ring is just a physical representation of the commitment your parnter has made...

  • It all depends on how he asked you... Did he say "will you marry me? "

Or was it a "you know what, lets get married! "

If it was a 'down on one knee, proposal'- then, congrats you are engaged!

He could be testing the waters to see what's your reaction. Or, it could have been a genuine proposal and he could be planning to have you choose out the ring yourself... Good luck

  • The ring may just be a symbol, but it's a majorly huge gesture showing he cares enough to make something of it.

  • The real question you should be asking yourself is if you feel that it is a real proposal.
