Why do people believe police officers must provide 3 forms of identification upon request?

It's a myth, you damn idiots.

Just for fun, I'll put a poll on this.

Look at this outstanding citizen. She apparently was quite intoxicated at IHOP and was acting disorderly. Waitresses that night say she was being loud, obnoxious, and rude to other customers, causing them to lose many tables. She was asked to leave and refused, so management called the sheriff. This outstanding citizen proceeds (in slurred speech) to flaunt what appears to be her vast knowledge of law, claiming that the police officer has to identify himself.

  • I'm smart enough to know that this is an urban legend, and that police do not have to provide forms of identification upon request.

  • At most you can only ask for his badge number in order to file a complaint.

And she can get arrested for disorderly conduct if she resists or refuses to leave the premise.
