In college, can you attend other majors' classes even if you don't study that?

Like if you study Business but want to learn about African-American Studies?

  • Yes. You can attend any class for which you have the pre-requisites complete. There are some, such as medical school classes that you cannot attend but these are the exception. Believe me, the school only wants your money. You can spend it on any classes you want.

    • how much is a class

    • each university is different. The US average is $1000 per credit hour. An average course is 3 credit hours.

    • if you don't want the credits, many courses allow you to "audit" the course. You go to the lectures but get no credit. That's free

  • As long as you have all of the prerequisite classes then you can take any classes that you want.

  • Yes. You can, as along as you have all the preq. then you're fine to take anything.

  • You can always sign up for the course, or audit it.

If it's a large lecture, odds are you can just walk in. If it's a small classroom, not as much.

  • Yeah you can just walk into a class but just make sure it is a relatively big class. I don't see how you will get caught. It's not like they will know.

  • That's stealing education, you can't educate yourself for free - what do you think this is, a communist state or something? God damned liberals wanting information and education for nothing...

  • Yeah you can take that as an elective. You could probably minor in that too if you really wanted.
