I've only been to Virginia one time and it was in one of the small towns. I've never met anyone personally from that state (which is odd, since I don't live far from it at all.) So, going from personal experience, the knowledge I have of the state, and from what I hear about it.
-Virginia is half-northern, half-southern. The top part is the "liberal/northern people", while the southern part of the state is the "good ol conservative, American south and hospitality."

-Richmond Speedway and Martinsville Speedway (Nascar.)
-People who are more into college sports than professional sports
-Old Dominion (America's oldest college.)

-The state Barack Obama won in the 2008 Presidential Election that nobody thought he would win
I'm not sure if this is entirely accurate (some of it is opinion anyway) but this is what I thought of when hearing about Virginia.0
