How can I communicate in a foreign country?

I want to go to Finland next summer but I don't know how can I communicate. I don't know the language there at all
and I don't have time for courses.
I can speak English and arabic

  • I've been to Finland many times. Virtually all Finns speak good English . Even older Finns in rural areas will be able to at least understand basic spoken English .

    Arabic, not so much. :)

    Learn a little bit of Finnish but be aware it's widely regarded as one of the most difficult languages on Earth for foreigners to learn. I can attest to this. Wonderful place and people; unbelievably hard language. :)

    Make some friends
    Have a Finnish to English dictionary with you all the time..

  • Pay for a translator. Use a device to translate for you. Be one of *those* tourists who assumes everyone speaks English or pick up a Finnish language book for 50 hours before you go.

  • I think Scandinavian and Baltic people speak English very well. Even I am going to Finland soon and I have no worries about language there.
