Does "so" means "that"?

I know "so" in some places can have the same meaning as "that", but can we always use "so" instead of "that"?
Like if my friend told me something yesterday, then he came today to tell me the same thing ist grammatically correct to tell him " you told me so yesterday"?

  • "you told me so yesterday" sounds right to me, but i don't think it's the same as "you told me that yesterday". Close, but not the same.

  • Hmm... I don't think so... well it wouldn't always sound right.

    An example:

Me: Billy, did you see That?
or Billy, did you see so?

    That doesn't really make sense

What Girls Said 1

  • Not always some times you can use So kind of like a question as in asking what they thing. That is well that. Like that girl, that guy, that cat, etc. So is mostly when you add more to things.
