When you shop for groceries - what do you put on your list? Do you know how to cook?

I guess for me a typical grocery list would include:
- bread
- meat
- lettuce
- sandwich cheese
- cooked fish or chicken or raw fish
- egg plants or red peppers or radishes
- some sort of gourmet cheese for recreational chewing
- either edamame or nuts
- maybe a spring mix salad, caesar salad, veggie platter
- maybe some berries, cappucino or tomatos

  • My usual list:

    Fish / Poultry / Beef
    Cheese slices
    Milk (fat and skim)
    Potatoes
    Grapes
    Bananas
    Strawberries
    Yogurt

    My sometimes need more list:

    Toilet paper
    Green onions
    Spices
    Bacon
    Cleaning Products
    Personal Products

Yes, I can cook, and sometimes if I'm in the store and see something I feel like making such as a special soup, then I'll shop around for the right things to put in the soup. If I feel like making hamburgers, then I'll get some buns and onions.

Usually I can survive nicely as long as I have my three meats from my first list, potatoes, and some kind of fresh vegetable to make for dinner.

For my breakfasts I always have eggs on hand and can usually do a lot with the same ingredients every morning with eggs, bread, bacon, cheese, flour, sugar, cinnamon whether I'm making French toast or pancakes, or just bacon and eggs.

My go to snack is usually buns with sausage and cheese, which is what I may have at breakfast or lunch.

  • I actually do know how to cook some decent, well rounded meals (like pasta, steak meals, pot roast, oven baked garlic and herb chicken meals, etc.). However, I got diagnosed this year with this disorder, so I can no longer digest a lot of food. My grocery list is pretty sad... since it's the same thing for months.

    rice
    bell peppers
    saltine crackers
    tomatoes
    carrots
    water chestnuts
    sesame seeds
    tomato soup
    tortilla shells
    pinto beans
    tomato paste
    olive oil
    salt/pepper
    peaches
    strawberries
    Gardein meatless chicken strips
    flax seeds
    tumeric
    basil
    parsley

    Soemtimes I get:
    nori
    avocados
    cucumbers

to make vegan sushi (with rice and carrots as well).

  • It all depends on what I want to cook obviously haha, but I always have yoghurt, danish bread, tomatoes and frozen fruit on my list. That's something I eat basically every day, so I always need to buy it. Also I but small portions because I hate when food is like more than 2 days old. I prefer everything fresh.

And yes I can cook :)
