  • Yes, to an extent, but not nearly as much as people seem to think.
    It certainly doesn't help when you discourage "running up the score" etc and put too much emphasis on taking part rather than on actually winning, just so nobody's feelings get hurt.

  • I'm going to say yes but with the caveat that you have to like the sport to learn from it. If you hate playing the entire time you're not going to learn anything other than life sucks sometimes.
