  • Maybe the bigger question is: why do almost all Americans and Brits eat crappy bread like toast and almost exclusively white bread? When I lived in America, it was almost impossible to find a store that sold real bread like the one we eat in continental Europe with a hard, crispy crust and made from whole wheat, rye or spelt flour. Besides decent cheese, there was nothing I missed more than real, tasty bread. Everywhere I went I only got soft, mushy, unhealthy stuff like toast.
