Could care less vs couldn't care less?

I keep seeing people saying the wrong one. It doesn't even make sense.
Which one do you think is correct?

  • Both are correct.
    I couldn't care less means that you don't care at all, that's why you can't care less.
    Saying I could care less means you're caring about, but shouldn't care that much.

    Both are correct, but it depends on what the person is trying to say. I also hear people using the wrong one, though, like they don't care at all, but say "could care less"... so they do care a little.
