If you lie about something that turns into the truth is that still a lie?

Like you'll lie saying 'im going to the store later' when you knew at that time you werent, but then you do end up going.

is that a lie? Or what would you call that?

  • Yes, since it started as a lie then it's a lie. The fact that it then turn out to be true doesn't mean you didn't lie at first.

What Guys Said 2

  • Lol it's a lie because the person didn't think they were going to the store. Well technically it's not a lie, but I think the point of calling something a lie is related to if the person intends to be truthful. Not many people would care if the lie technically turned out to not be a lie.

  • Intent makes a lie.
If I told a five year old that the earth was flat right now, that would be a lie.
But if I was also five years old and someone told me the earth was flat and I passed it along thinking it was the truth, it would be a mistake, not a lie.
