I ate from a dented food can and now I'm terrified?

How risky is it?

  • as long as its just a dent and not open, you have nothing to worry about.

You do know they ship tin cans to the tin can factory, then it goes on the machine, then it goes on the truck, then it goes in inventory of grocery stores, then it gets put on the shelve. With all that travelling, I'm surprised 1 out of 2 cans don't have dents.

  • It's not that risky.

  • Dented cans don't present any problem, it's cans that are bulging outward you need to look out for. Eat from one of those and there's a chance you could die from the disease that killed Rock Hudson and Freddy Mercury: botulism; bad meat in the can.

  • No risk. Bulges are the thing you need to look for.

  • Not risky at all unless it actually split open.

  • Not risky. The only problem would be is if the rim seal of the can was dented.
