I used to be a night owl when I was in my teens and mid 20's. I used to go to bed at 3:00 a. m. on a nightly... err... morning basis.
When I turned 30 and I had to get up early for my job, I adapted and adopted a new routine where I would eat dinner by 7, floss and brush my teeth after and by 8, I'm taking my melatonin pill. I fall asleep by 10:30 at the very latest and wake up at 6:00 a. m. everyday.
