Do you think that teenagers are children ( age 13 - 18 ) ?

I do think that they are children but my friend said that she doesn't think so. What do you think?

  • I'd use "children" for kids under 13.

  • Any one under 12, I consider a child.

Over 13, I consider a teenager because they have thoughts they are very adult like and more complexed---(especially when they become an older teenager age 16 and up).

Children to me are innocent, and play with toys.
They don't think about things in the way teenagers do.
    I don't consider any one 13-18 a child.

Child to me is in reference to someone that is practically a baby from hindsight.

What Guys Said 13

  • No, teenagers are not children. Neither psychologically nor biologically (physically). That is why they are called pubescents and not children.

  • They're not children but they're not exactly adults either.
    That's why they're called... teenagers.
They get some of the stuff adults can enjoy but they also are restricted to some of the things children have.
    It's a time of transition.

  • Legally children, emotionally not *fully* mature. Do not forget - up until a couple of hundred years ago the world was run by such "children."

  • You're not adults. that's the first thing. but...

You're not children. Not really. I would treat them as such for the majority of things. Most of the stuff happening to you right now is childish stuff. That's part of growing up.

  • I know we are technically in between, but no group could be more in between than teenagers. We become very literate and yet we are still childlike

  • They're not children, but they're definitely not old enough to make wise decisions. It seems like the age where people are capable of being wise and making prudent decisions is increasing lately.

What Girls Said 15

  • if we're going by language, it's obviously 13-19.
if we're going by the law, it's 13-17.

so it really depends on which angle ur looking at.
im gonna go with the law's definition i guess.

  • Evreryone is a child to someone regardless of their age. If you mean maturity wise then know a child means kid and a kid is a kid while a teen is a teen.

And according to the law 18 means you're neither of them.

  • Well they are children in the sense they are under 18. But I do know I rather raise toddlers than raise teenagers any day.

  • Yes I do. Those who feel they're "mature for their age" usually are not.

  • Not children exactly, but yea. 18 and 13 are very different though, 13 is a kid definitely, 18 is a grown kid lol
