Is the uk still part of EUROPE?

hi.

because the UK voted to leave the EU does that mean they're still in Europe or not?

because if they are not in Europe anymore the UK will become a tiny country nobody cares about.

  • Unless someone hooked a chain up to Britain and towed it far out to sea, it is still part of Europe.

    • The EU is first economical, then political , last geographical: some ex French colonies in Oceania use the euro and the fcfa ( ex French central Africa franc) is coupled to the euro.

    • @jacquesvol - hitch would matter if the question and my comment were about the EU. But they were about Europe.

  • Yes, Europe is a continent. The EU is a bunch of countries within that continent who just have a unity. EU stands for European Union... a union within Europe.

  • The EU doesn't hold sovereignity of what is considered european landmass. There are plenty of European countries that aren't part of the European Union and unless the UK manages to turn the entire island into a ship, it will still be a part of Europe.

  • The 'leave" is estimated to take two years of diplomacy to reach agreements.
The UK will then be a tiny country in the Commonwealth.

  • They're part of Europe. They voted to leave the European Union (an alliance which several European countries like Norway, Switzerland and Iceland weren't part of in the first place). Right now they're still in the European Union, but negotiations have started to begin the process of leaving it.

  • Yes. The EU is just a political and economic cooperative union. The UK still is geopolitically in Europe.
