What does it mean "Lol" ?
Most Helpful Guy
By strict definition, it means "laugh out loud."
However, it has developed a certain kind of connotation in the same way as putting "haha" at the end of a sentence. If someone uses "lol," chances are they aren't really laughing... They just find something amusing or are just trying to keep conversation positive.
"lololol" (... and continuing) means something is a little more amusing than an "lol," but not quite as amusing as an "LOL."
"Lol" at the beginning often means one is going to make a joke, whether or good or bad, and they hope you'll laugh at it-- or at least from what I've seen.
"LOL" anywhere probably means they actually did laugh. All caps "LOL" is generally when they find something genuinely hilarious.
"LOOL" is like the super "lol." It's like "LOL" but extra. It means the person found something reaaalllly hilarious. Sometimes it includes more "O's" in it. Generally that means the same thing.
And that's about every version of "lol" I can imagine one would stumble across in internet lingo. 👍7
