Why do people say 'Mother nature', that's just so sexist?

Why not man nature or human nature? I'm so triggered right now.

Earth: Gets impregnated, gives us goodies.

Nature was always considered Hermaphrodite not feminine. By "Mother Nature" people mostly mean earth. And yes characteristics of earth can be very Feminine.

What she said. A lot of creation myths from various religions follow a similar slant to this.

  • Because women have kids and men don't. I'm sure they're just associating fertility and growth with motherhood. It's kind of a play on words. It's not a big deal.

Technically men are the ones who initiate the actual life of a baby in the womb.

    • 1mo

But men don't give birth, which is what people usually mean when they say "give life "

  • But see... what ever happened to mommy long legs, all I've ever heard about is daddy long legs.

No Farther Nature sounds better than Mother Nature. You're just sexist.

    • 1mo

Well women give birth and men can't, therefore Mother Nature makes more sense. I'm pretty sure that it dates back to some old story about how the world was created or something. Let me google it and I'll get back to you 😂

    • 1mo

Okay yeah I was right 😁 Like the Greeks had Gaia who was like "Mother Earth" and so it most likely stems from all of those old myths 😊

  • Well, human nature is the act or traits of human beings. I think it comes from 'Mother Earth'. Same goes for 'Father Time'. It's not sexist. Being sexist is giving a limitation to a gender and saying that gender can't or shouldn't do anything but what is set in that particular limitation.
