Erik Satie: rate this musician?

Éric Alfred Leslie Satie, who signed his name Erik Satie after 1884, was a French composer and pianist. Satie was a colourful figure in the early 20th-century Parisian avant-garde. His work was a precursor to later artistic movements such as minimalism, Surrealism, repetitive music, and the Theatre of the Absurd. (From Wikipedia)

I just stumbled on his music, its pretty good, it gives a nice yet somber feel that’s anything but disquieting.

Helps me get past some of the tense feelings. What do you make of his stuff?

  • Yeah, he's good. I've always admired Gymnopedie No. 1.

If you like him, I also recommend Chris Zabriskie. He's a modern producer with some nice and simple piano stuff suited for various moods.

    • I like it, but its a little more ‘ambient’ than I’m used to if you know what I mean. Lot going on in the background while the main stuff is going on.

    • Yeah, No.2 is the one I really like. Tbh I don't really care much for the rest after listening to the all the preludes again.

Try this one if you haven't watched the movie Her, highly recommend it. (Ignore the 1h repetition lol). I think it's a great piece.
