You go into a relationship hoping that his new person is The One and, when you break up, you must admit that you were wrong. It is difficult to rationalize calling that a "success." However, most relationships do not succeed and that fact that this relationship failed does not mean that there is something wrong with you, either. Every relationship teaches something about what you want from a partner, what you are willing to give, what are your deal breakers, etc. As long as you learn some lessons from the relationship, it is not a loss and it is actually just a part of the path to becoming a better potential partner in your next relationship.

Dating is an exploratory process. If at any time you choose to discontinue that process, that is totally okay. If you discover that you're not right for one another, it's much better to go ahead and end things than to continue the engagement and get married to that person.
However, I will say that if I was in a relationship, I would PREFER to keep it going. Because I am an optimist, and I like to work hard to make relationships succeed. Also, I am a very loyal person, and I don't give up on people easily.
As I told you, Considering who she is and what does she does, You have a million of the fans envious of you not only was you dating a band member, you was on first name terms with most of them. So what you didn't see her big tatties you were being respectful.
