When will the "safety net" after a break up be gone?

After my boyfriend dumped me I immediatly went into no contact.
So i haven't talked to him for 5 weeks now.
People say that dumpers use the person they dumped as a kind of "safety net" for when they get bored or don't find anyone else.
How long will it take the dumper to realise that their safety net is gone?
How long should I stay in No contact?

What Guys Said 1

  • The safety net concept is true of jerks. If a guy dumps a girl, he should have the good sense to let her be so she can move on and find someone who'll treat her right.

There is no set time that you can be guaranteed he won't hit on you again. However, you can work toward guaranteeing he won't get anywhere with you again

What Girls Said 1

  • Girl...stop reading those articles online. Sometimes exes come back, sometimes they don't. No one here can tell you when or if this guy will go running back to you, unless you just want someone to tell you what you want to hear.

You should be in no contact to help get over the breakup, not to try and get him back...even though thats what you read on the internet. You could be waiting for a lifetime.
