It's a bullshit cowardly way to say "my feelings have changed" or "I'm ending our relationship"
Certain circumstances may provoke the thought of "how have I not progressed to that level yet?"
The first thing I always assume is that it's a cheap excuse to leave.

It's very simple, they don't have to work Sh*** , they where just not ready and they didn't really feel it, in other words, they didn't even want a relationship in the first place.
Truth hurts, but this is so true... been there done that
I feel like it makes THEM feel better about the breakup so basically it's selfish.
