Is this really bad advice for when a man pulls away?

I keep seeing articles that when a man pulls away you do nothing. No contact.
Here's an example: https://www.eharmony.com/dating-advice/relationships/3-steps-to-stop-a-man-from-withdrawing/#.WRsOL-vyuM8
One article described it like being an "elastic band" and that when he pulls away, you create tension by pulling away too and he will notice the shift and come back to you. Because it shows "you're a girl whose in control of her emotions" and you go back to "living your life" etc. Surely that's game-playing though?

Another one said that when he withdraws and comes back to you, the girl is supposed to welcome him back and be like "ah it's so good to hear from you?" etc. You connect with him, with "feeling messages?"

Guys, is there ANY element of truth in these articles? Would this work for you? Also, what would be the reasons you pull away from a girl?
