Me and my “ boyfriend” ( who is also quite a few years older than me ) have been seeing eachother for a few months and things have been pretty serious. Well yesterday we brought up what was the day that we officially got together and i mentioned the day that he called me his girlfriend. Then he started saying that he doesn't like the whole boyfriend / girlfriend thing because it sounds middle school. So i asked him what are we and he said you are my SO and we are in a exclusive relationship. So why say this now when you have made comments about me being your boyfriend before? ( like saying he has such an amazing etc) . Is it bad to be referred to as a SO than a girlfriend is there really a difference? In a way it seems like he's downplaying what we are.
