Do they ever delete medical files?

what if u had one conversation with a psychologist and u didn't agree with what they said and u asked for deleting of the file... do they do that?

  • I know here in the U. S. they're supposed to hold onto files indefinitely, but realistically they're gone/tossed out after 10 years. Hospitals will generally hold onto test records for longer.

  • They generally delete after 7 years unless its pertinent to a lifetime health condition and no they don’t delete on request

    • at the practice that i was they do.. u can ask for delete on request.

    • And at mine and in my country they don’t unless it’s medically incorrect information such as put in the wrong patient file.
