Does lighting effect looks in real life and not in photos?

I feel that I look great in some lightings in real life but terrible in others specifically brighter lights where I look worse than darker less bright lights. What do you think.

  • As dark skinned people, we never take good photos in poor lighting, the reason being the way the camera actually works, our skin absorbs light where as cameras pick up light bouncing off objects.
    This is where the terms
    Suns of God
    or Israel (Lights) come from
    We feel better in the sun because we soak up the light and walk around like human torches loool
