If it is to hush up to avoid saying something that you'll regret, I wouldn't call it the silent treatment. The silent treatment is normally this crazy thing where someone is trying to torment another person by not talking to them so the other person has to "guess" what is bothering them, etc. So keeping quiet to avoid saying something hurtful might not be ideal, it is normally better than saying something you'll regret later. Plus it gives you time to think of a better thing to say.

Well in that case, I would suggest working on developing more open means of communication. I need to follow my own advice also... LOL
Yes and no. Yes because you should learn to cuminacte with your partner, but no if your trying to protect them
