I'm only half an inch taller and did all right, and actually found it not so difficult to find a date in Japan. In the US it was a bit more of a challenge, but not impossible.I even got a date just wandering into a clothing store in the US with a cute girl working as a receptionist, and she asked me where I'm from, told her Japan, and she asked me to write her name in Japanese. Then I did and she gave me her number. So every now and then I even got a date without trying (it wasn't a very frequent occurrence though, mind you, and most of the time I had to try a bit).Helps to be sociable and confident and not feel like the ugly duckling as a result of your height. It also helps not to be afraid of being rejected when asking girls out and be able to shrug them off. It's like the more you fear that, the more nervous you'll be, and actually your chances of being rejected probably go way up due to that fear.
How do you write a (presumably) English person's name in Japanese? Apparently people are shorter in Japan, is that really true? Anyway thanks for the response.
I wrote it in katakana. It was a bit challenging since her name was Stephanie. But I put it like ステファニ. About people being shorter in Japan, I'd say so but unfortunately for you, there are a whole lot of taller Japanese these days over 6 feet tall. I'm amazed at how many teens I see who are that height (they aren't the majority, but a nontrivial minority, when I would have rarely ever found one when I was a boy). But with the average/median, you'd probably be around average here.
But even though I'm finding lots of taller Japanese in their teens, it's not necessarily the case that the idea that taller is more masculine or handsome has become a prevalent idea here. So I think you'd do fine in Japan, and also other places if you can be confident and sociable.
You either date shorter women or taller women who don't care about height. My dad was 5' 6" my mom 5'3". My ex was 5'6" and I'm 5 1 1/2". My daughter's boyfriend is 5' 6" or 7" she's 5' 1". He' a sweet, handsome young man. You should be fine.
I’ve seen a few girls say they like guys their height, or short girls who don’t care since basically every guy is taller than them. You shouldn’t give up but it will be tough to find those girls.
Don't go down to fractions of an inch. It comes across "I'm not 5'6"; I'm 5'6" AND A HALF" it's like you're trying too hard to defend your height.
I'm 170cm on the dot, that puts me closer to 5'7" than 5'6" or even 5'6.5". Yet, I'm not quite 5'7", should I lie and say I am 5'7" then?
I understand where you are coming from, I felt like saying I'm ~5'6.75" but that just felt too awkward lol
Saying 5'7" would be fine. It's just abnormal to go down to half inches. Usually that's a thing kids would do. I'm not 10, I'm 10 and a half!
I'm 6'5. I don't think being under or over average in height do much difference in life. Girls won't care too much.
No. Some girls don't care about height. I personally would be fine dating a guy who is 5'6.
There are 4'10 girls out there
Ask Peter Dinklage
I'm not a celebrity
Most people in high school aren't, my point was he's only 4'4 and a decent chunk of the ladies like him
Yeah but the point is him being a celebrity makes him known to a hell of a lot more than the typical person can. Thousands, millions. The average guy like myself can be known to maybe a few hundred maximum.
Did you know that if you always look at the negatives nothing good ever happens
But an AVERAGE 5'6 guy is truly screwed if he's trying get a date right?
If you've given up before even trying did you really try at all?
